Ottia Overcomes Requirements Roadblocks, Streamlines Software Development with Archie

Archie

The Challenge

Ottia is a Finland-based company that provides coding services to software teams wanting to achieve higher velocity and cost-efficiency without having to recruit inhouse developers or hire consultants.(added by Ottia)

These clients often face a common challenge: they need more technical expertise or time to properly plan their projects' architecture and scope. This leads to significant delays and inefficiencies in the development process.

Ottia’s mission is to help its clients accelerate time to market, but in some instances, the solution can’t be adding more developers to the team, as it would quickly deplete a client’s budget -- and sometimes it just isn’t the right solution.

After discovering 8base through a Google search, Ottia decided to explore its Archie AI product architect tool, believing it could address their needs.

“For years, we’d been looking for ways to increase development speed and reduce budget burdens for our clients,” said Sam Argillander, co-founder and CEO of Ottia. “We needed a tool to help us and our clients better plan and scope projects.”

The Opportunity

Ottia was drawn to Archie because it offers an out-of-the-box solution for creating detailed project scopes and architecture plans. Archie’s built-in personas and chat functionality can also be used by clients with and without an engineering background, making it ideal for Ottia's diverse client base.

Archie compresses months of work into minutes. It provides comprehensive planning and design capabilities, including user types, module definitions, detailed requirements, UX/UI designs, and technical architecture.

Archie leverages multiple large language models (LLMs) to orchestrate AI API calls, ensuring thorough and intelligent project descriptions. This automation reduces the likelihood of software defects caused by poorly written requirements and incomplete designs.

“We tested several platforms before finding Archie,” Sam added. “But Archie stood out because it allowed us to easily create user types and gather information in a way accessible for both technical and non-technical users.”

The appeal of Archie is the ability to streamline the process of converting designs and requirements into user stories and tasks that can be integrated into JIRA. This shortcut should enable Ottia to save time and reduce the manual effort involved in project planning.

Ottia plans to roll out Archie with a few pilot clients starting in August 2024. They believe Archie will help them onboard clients more effectively and improve overall project efficiency.

“By using Archie, we aim to eliminate the roadblocks that come from poorly defined requirements,” said Ben Rozell, co-founder and CCO at Ottia. “This will help us deliver our services more efficiently and increase our development velocity.”
