Our Story
‍Archie Labs originated from 8base, which was founded by Albert Santalo. A veteran in the software industry, Albert began his career as a software engineer and management consultant; later founding and exiting two venture-backed SaaS companies. In 2017, he launched 8base with a bold vision: software development didn’t need to be overly complex, time-consuming, or capital-intensive. 8base introduced a low-code development platform that enabled businesses of all sizes to build and run applications more effectively. When generative AI exploded on the scene in 2022, the 8base team saw both challenges and opportunities: that AI could not only replace manual coding, but also make low-code platforms less relevant, as generative development promised increased productivity by generating code in standard languages and frameworks without sacrificing flexibility.

‍Revolutionizing Software Development
‍Recognizing the evolving AI landscape, the team created Archie, an AI Product Architect, to transform not just the coding process but the entire process that precedes the coding step — what we call pre-development. Addressing pre-development is overlooked by most, yet oversights in this step cause over 60% of project failures. 

Archie’s technology leverages the expertise of multiple Large Language Models (LLMs), harnessed under the power of a sophisticated and highly trained set of AI agents orchestrating software design and development at computing speed. These AI agents represent each discipline of software development including product design, product management, visual design, technical architecture, engineering and testing/QA.

In essence, Archie was designed as a natural language interface for software development. The robust output it provides can then be utilized by both human and AI developers to ensure the thousands of requirements needed to build beautifully crafted, sophisticated digital products are met on the first try.
